Cinematic History: Kill Bill and Feminism

One of Tarantino’s masterpieces, Kill Bill is his most female influenced picture that has affected the way women are now portrayed in movies. As an action movie, the film itself is full of amazing picturesque scenes of fighting with swords and fist. Instead of only males taking to the fights, women are on full display. I watched it when it first came out when I was about thirteen years old. I didn’t know what I was getting myself into since Tarantino is more known for his gang-style drama. Instead Kill Bill stood out of the movie of the year with insane dialog, bizarre fight scenes, and killer soundtrack. From the cover it seems like a film for the “dudes”; hot women with weapons fighting each other. Instead, what we received from Tarantino was a movie showcasing that women are capable and this taught me that I was too. Behind all the gore and the fowl language is a film that really puts the strength of females on the podium for all time.
